Different Scenarios Where Security Companies Provide Their Services

At present, security services have become necessary in commercial and personal establishments alike.  You will feel their comforting presence in malls, movie theatres, offices, schools, hospitals and anywhere you think of.

Call it paranoia or the need to safeguard against crimes committed by professional thieves or disgruntled customers who sometimes indulge in unacceptable activities such as shoplifting or causing damage to property among other things. At hospitals, security services ensure that order is maintained and patients get the peace they expect from hospitals. Schools are no different, as soon as a kid is beyond his classroom walls, he is free to do things that might harm other students or put the doer at risk. Security services for schools are good at handling students without the use of force, which is typical of security guards we see at malls, hospitals or offices.

Why Security Services Need Different Skills

If you have noticed by now, security services need to be prepared for several scenarios. A Retail security guard will not have the same skills as a guard at a high security industry. Similarly, security services entrusted with protecting children will require training in detecting drugs, weapons and contraband. Rising incidents of school firing and drug related crimes call for more than detention, a guard may have to keep the situation under control until reinforcement arrives in the form of police.

In contrast, security services at hospitals have to deal with emotional tinderboxes every day. Death often brings the worst out in relatives. Often they go on rampage, pushing and shoving other patients, biting physicians and even attempting suicides! The guard will have to physically restraint such people and keep himself shielded from the emotional drama. He may have to access the morgue and see corpses more than a police officer does in an entire month. Besides his security services a guard at a hospital might find himself in a situation where doctors expect him to administer services that were taught during his training.

Every scenario is unique in itself, but the basics of security services do not change much. They are expect to deal with humans, whether at a mall or a hospital or at schools.

Why ‘Jack-of-All-Trades’ Security Services Are No Good

Security guards are specialized performers and they have special training to make them handle incidents in their particular line of action. A guard in a mall is a little bit different from a guard at a school, mostly in his training but more importantly in his handling of incidents singular to his domain of service. If you are out hiring security services insist on those guards who have had relevant experience in their field. Costs are important, but not as much as hiring someone who has it what it takes to provide security services at your school, office, hospital or mall.
